Determining What Chin Procedure Is Right For You
- Posted on: Mar 15 2020
If you don’t love the way the profile of your face looks or even the way it looks from head-on, you may consider a chin procedure. Dr. Ward has experience with these kinds of procedures and would love to work with you to find the surgical approach to suit your needs.
Chin procedures can range from the use of fillers to enlarge the chin, insertion of an implant, or surgically moving the chin forward and/or down. Chin reduction can be also performed by removing excess bone. You have plenty of options to achieve a chin that is more in harmony with the rest of your face.
Before undergoing any type of plastic surgery, you will speak with a surgeon about your goals and expectations for the procedure. When speaking with Dr. Ward, you might discuss what bothers you about your current chin and what your desired results will look like. He will then go over the basics of the procedure, what you can expect, and any potential risks that are involved.
Before your procedure, you will have a physical exam and be asked a few additional health questions about prior surgeries to make sure there are no concerns going into surgery. We’ll also give you instructions about how to best prepare for your procedure before, during, and after. This includes prescriptions for medications you’ll need to take after the procedure.
Generally, you are advised to avoid taking anything with aspirin, ibuprofen, or any other medication, such as Advil, Motrin, any blood thinners, some herbal supplements, etc for 3-4 weeks prior to the procedure. Taking these types of medications increase your risk of bleeding during your procedure as well as how much you may bruise during the recovery period. Be sure to follow any and all post-op instructions we give you and you should be able to recover quickly and fully.
We’d love to help you get the chin you want and answer any other questions you may have. Give us a call at 801-513-FACE to schedule a consultation with Dr. Ward today.
